Learn MoreReading the Top of an Alhambra Chimney
A third of the housing predates 1950, and those streetcar-era houses usually carry brick stacks built on site. That brick wants a mortar soft enough to flex with it, which is the first thing we match. Strong sun and wide swings from noon to midnight keep working at old joints, and the wet months from November on find every gap. Dry Santa Ana gusts then test any cap held on by tired mortar.
The Crown
An old mortar wash at the top of a 1930s stack sheds little water, so we form a proper cast crown that clears the brick.
Joints and Flashing
Sandy, recessed joints near the top get raked out by hand and refilled in a soft mix, profiled to match the older work below.
Above the Roofline
The last few courses take the sun and shaking hardest; if they have shifted, we take them down and lay them back on sound brick.

Before Any Repair
Tell us what you see on top of your Alhambra chimney.
A cracked crown, a stain beside the stack, brick that looks out of line. That is enough for us to plan the roof visit, and we explain the build before we quote.
